Although this year' event which is scheduled to be held during the end of June, 27-29, created a news of sorts; the search giant would still have the memory of the time when the event was held was the first time. For those unaware, when the event was a newborn Google had tough time collecting the developers attention. The tables for sure turned around last year tremendously when the tickets for Google I/O 2011 were sold out in pretty quick time. And this year Google must be ecstatic with the rabbit that they pulled out of the hat; the tickets were sold out under 20 minutes. This gave away that market is full of curiosity on what the future has in store for it as far as the products from the search giant are concerned.
Google plus, Chrome and of course Android and its flavors; there is plenty on the table that we should be on waiting on. We discuss a few of the items that we think are on top of the list that will be generating news in this year's event.
Google' Favorite Is It?
We couldn't help but start the list with the much talked and hyped product and possibly (and arguable) the initially thought of competitor to the social media giant. Google plus has been in news; more really for its comparison to Facebook then for its own features.
We think Google will be discussing its future as a leader (or compatriot) in the social media world. And with it also making sure not to miss out on integration and prospects of Search (or Search Plus Your World) results produced by them. The recent update to the Hangout may also find a mention, more so as they look to compete with services/products like Skype. The product has been so much in news that not starting the event with it sounds like a point missed ;) Moreover as in case of Facebook, Google may now be ready to really open the door to social apps in the business.
Sweet Dishes : Android Flavors
And this should be the number two in line. They have missed mentioning it soon in the previous events, when applicable, and it should be more hotter this time. Especially since there is a new flavor of Android waiting to be released; or are there two?
We mentioned about the new sweet dishes due this summer and may be very early next year. And after the event, do watch out for how they fared in comparison to Apple' event where they announce their updates!!
Developers Will Fill The Event
Just because of the first two in the list and also for their OS (discussed a couple of points later) developers will be glued to the event. Don't trust us? Why do you think Google was able to sell out the tickets to this year's event in a record time?
The other aspect that deserves enough mention is the Android market; or rather the Google Play. There has been huge potential for developers in that area and it just promises to boom. So if you are a developer, you probably already have got your seat booked by now!
And Security...
Has been a big concern both for the Android phones and Google Play. People have been complaining on the type of apps available to download in the market, so yes security will surely make its mention at the event.
Google TV, Chrome OS and may be a surprise!!
Yes we are aware that the TV made an appearance already but in between the other focuses it seems to have lost its place. But what good a place to make a comeback then this. However brief we suspect there would be a mention for sure.
Same stands for Chrome OS, we all are waiting! The surprise that we hinted on isn't really a surprise. A new smartphone may not be a news that most of us are expecting this year, having already received the Galaxy Nexus; but you never know with the Nexus line. So just keep an eye on either a new smartphone or a tablet!!
