Mobile App Analytics With Google Analytics Android App

Once you look at the number of people using their mobile phones for functions apart from the normal "calling", it doesn't strike a surprise that the handheld devices are really churning out the traffic. And with the interest the app developers are bombarding the mobile world with the different apps, the consumers (or users) are using these apps with as much comfort and interest as well.

Google Plus In Between The Updates

By now we are used to getting some nicely crafted updates from Google on their social network in a bid to get better for their web as well as smartphone users. So it isn't a surprise that we see updates to both version (web and mobile app) very often.

Cafe4tune: Social Network with 3D touch and Karaoke Options

Cafe4tune, founded in 2011 offers its users larger than life ways of interacting in 2D as well as 3D virtual environments. The environments that we talk about are in the site' lingo are called Cafes. Facebook Beautifies Photos and Notifications

Facebook has started rolling out changes to its photos page on Timeline as well as on the notifications that you receive about your photo posts. As per our last update today, users have started seeing the changes on the notifications drop...

Social Media And Your Network

Social media is a bubble for whose existence we all (well, nearly all) agree with. If you think otherwise, we would love to hear your views on the Facebook-Instagram deal as detailed on our post the other day. Existence of this bubble makes us think of how cramp the bubble would be with so many things finally making it burst.

QuickSeoResults Reseller Program

Quick Seo Results Reseller Program
The Canadian founded SEO company, Quick SEO Results known in the market more for its SEO offers has now opened its reseller program for public. Their DIY SEO (Do It Yourself) program is already trending in the market while their 30 day free trial offers their customers solutions for the normal problems that they approach the company with. The company' SEO tools help the customers in making small modifications to parts of their site that when combined to the whole effort paid for the site benefits them in every aspect of SEO.

The reseller program which is open for website developers, startups and digital agencies creates exciting opportunities for them in terms of additional profits areas as well as in terms of providing their existing clients with services that are already tried and tested in the market with result proofs. The company has been smart with the reseller program introduction not only by making it easier for people to join(making the sign up process easy and hassle free, so to say), but also by incorporating perks in the program that many website owners and consultants look for in these programs.

While their 30 day free trial is already a hit in the market, the resellers that join them are free to extend this period for their clients in case they wish to do so. The resellers are not bound by Quick SEO Results and they are allowed to tun in as many customers as they would like to. Clients in turn can use the services provided by the program without any time cap applied by the  reseller or company in turn. In fact as a surprise, resellers are not bound by the pricing the company offers. As per the Quick SEO Results Reseller Program, the resellers are provided the freedom in terms of the pricing they offer their existing and/or potential customers. This is a great term as the resellers, due to the fact that the company does not impose any upper limit on the price, have full control over the gain that they get as they offer the services of Quick SEO Results to their clients.

And this is not all. Resellers are allowed to market their clients' company under their own brand name. Thus providing the white label option to their customers. Resellers may thus have access to certain tools that power them to progress report their clients. Resellers will also have full access to the company' SEO specialists and provide them the support that may be required for managing the customers. This access includes the on page SEO recommendations, keyword recommendations and analysis about the competitor as well.

Quick SEO Results works as an aggregate of Clicking Labs.

LinkedIn Passwords Leaked Online

First it was the new mobile calendar app that was reported to be transmitting the full meeting notes and other data on both the iOS and Android platform and now its the password hack news. It really is turning out to be a very bad week for LinkedIn.

LinkedIn security was breached when the passwords were leaked for around 6.5Mn of its users. Considering the total user base to be in approx 160Mn range, the whole of the user base wasn't at risk; but the issue is still a very high importance one.The reports came out on Wednesday when the leaked passwords were posted on a Russian web forum, with a message that was encouraging other hackers to help in decrypting the hashed passwords.

Members whose passwords were compromised were reported to have received mails that asked them to confirm their mail ids. The link in the mail obviously didn't take them to LinkedIn' site, rather a site selling counterfeit drugs. However these users have been told that they will receive information through email on how to change the password, but the mail will be without any links. Analysts however reports that the number of users whose passwords were compromised may even be larger than what is actually reported. They say that since any password that was leaked may be used by more than one LinkedIn member, seems to make sense!

The passwords (minus the usernames) were posted on the Russian web forum by the user who hacked the security system. The passwords were encrypted with the SHA-1 cryptographic hash function, that are generally considered relatively secure. However it also means that passwords are stored as unsalted hashes, making it much easier to decipher them using precomputed rainbow tables. While a few may have been arguing about the seriousness of the reports, LinkedIn seems to have acknowledged the same on their Twitter account.
LinkedIn acknowledged password leak

As a safe guard, even if your password is not hacked and you are not one of those 6.5Mn or whatever the actual number may be, its a good idea to actually change your password. And since we are on the 'change password' topic, why not do it for all other accounts where you may be using the same password as that of LinkedIn. Be advised that the hackers after possessing your passwords have equal or may be more chance of attacking other online accounts of yours just to check if they could get in.

Oh and by the way the mobile calendar app issue that we talked about right at the start, it seems the updated version for the Android devices is already available on the Google play store. So update your app manually if it hasn't been on the auto update. As for the iOS version, it seems that the update is available but waiting on Apple' own approval for now.

Facebook To Allow Access To Kids Under 13

One aspect of the networking sites out there on the web is collecting data. Doesn't matter for a social or professional aspect of the business. Collecting good information, or rather maintaining a healthy database is key in its own sense. The importance of quality of data is right at the center of the company owning it and we assure you, they take it pretty seriously. So when a web user goes online faking information while registering on a portal or while submitting information required to access a piece of content; the whole idea of the health and quality of database goes right out of the window. Consider a scenario where a site has a metrics for progress on age group of the users that access their content online. What happens when majority of the users filling up this data provide an escalated number? BOOM...

The scenario gets worse when its the children who start doing this. So when Facebook(or reports) says they are planning to let children under 13 years of age inn, they certainly are aware that quite a few of them are already using their online service just by faking the number. The only point of making the change or taking that step would be, yes you guessed it, health and quality of data. Till now Facebook and many other online services can't give access to this population of the world since the Federal laws don't allow them to collect information about this group without obtaining consent from their parents. Obviously the consent thing would be cumbersome, so the easy thing is to impose the ban on the age group and; deal with some amount of fake, unhealthy data!

Lets accept the fact that in this web world, parents want their children to access the online contents for accessing study material or Google-ing information required from an academic point of view. So while children have an easy access to the internet, there is no way to stop
Facebook To Allow Kids Under 13them lying about what they provide you on the web. Making the entry official would be one way to prevent these kids from lying about their age and any other data they may be fiddling with. How? Well, possibly by linking the kids account to their parents' accounts. Facebook is assumed to be still in the test mode for pulling of the age restriction and recognizes in a note on "how difficult it is to enforce age restrictions on the Internet, especially when parents want their children to access online content and services. We are in continuous dialogue with stakeholders, regulators and other policymakers about how best to help parents keep their kids safe in an evolving online environment".

Its not a bad idea to let the kids' real world parents be their Facebook parents, so they keep a watch and have a final say on whom their kids can be friends with. We are all aware that for the 13 to 17 age group Facebook already has a default setting about who can see their posts, and that's friends-of-friends, so may be only friends for under 13 would be a nice way to start. The age group however is quite a nice number for advertisers;from a responsibility point of view Facebook might be well off keeping the adverts off these profiles.

Whatever be the rules, its difficult without the parent supervision to keep a close eye and still be building a safe virtual playground for the kids. In financial terms, it looks too demanding for Facebook to be creating a whole new section on its online service possibly for the youngest of the online users, at least genuine ones. Will they do it for the reputation base as a social media giant or will they be forced not to for the same reason? Would you allow Facebook access to your 10 year old kid? I think I would rather have mine in the playground then be in between likes and comments; that are nothing more than flex of a single muscle, or is that couple of muscles..hush..whatever!!

Google Buys Meebo

Google is making in roads (or at least trying to) on its way to the top social networking platform with its plus product. Although we are still some time away from seeing that, if that ever happens, but the search giant isn't in mood to leave any stone unturned here. In its latest effort, Google has completed a deal where it has reportedly bought Meebo for about a $100Mn. The news was posted on Meebo' blog yesterday, for what made of an official announcement from their side.

Google Buys Meebo
Founded in 2005, Meebo is a Silicon Valley start-up that works with publishers and advertisers to connect them with web users. The company raised $70Mn in venture capital since it started. With built in adverts Meebo allows for easy chat and social sharing. Their chat toolbar allows for easy link sharing and most importantly advertising, which is what(read Adwords) Google seems to make most of the money from. The service is also available as an app. Meebo initially started with browser based instant messaging program supporting multiple messaging services like for instance Facebook. The then launched Meebo bar, something that they call their flagship product. The bar allows users to chat with their network on quite a few websites like TV guide, TMZ etc while also allowing advertisers to display to display content at the bottom of the web pages.

The move as Google puts it is an effort to boost their goal of letting the users share content and stay connected just like their usual life, making it more simpler and easier in the process. It however is pretty clear that the search giant is looking to boost the presence of their social network Google plus with the acquisitions like these. This is what they had to say in a statement:

We are always looking for better ways to help users share content and connect with others across the Web, just as they do in real life. With the Meebo team's expertise in social publisher tools, we believe they will be a great fit with the Google Plus team

And this is what Meebo have on their blog since yesterday:

For more than seven years we’ve been helping publishers find deeper relationships with their users and to make their sites more social and engaging. Together with Google, we’re super jazzed to roll up our sleeves and get cracking on even bigger and better ways to help users and website owners alike.
We’ve had a blast building Meebo so far and we’re really excited to start the next leg of our journey.

Facebook Manager App Released

This was in the pipeline for some time. Facebook has finally provided a way for business page admins on the site to be able to manage their pages on-the-go. The functionality hasn't been included in the native app, but rather a separate app comes in to picture; called the Facebook Pages Manager.

Facebook Manager App Released For iOS
Facebook Manager App Released For iOS
Sad for the Android users this Manager app is only available for iPhone(and iPod touch and iPad) users and there is no word on a version for Android. There is also a version requirement and you should be running on iOS 4.2 or later. The news comes as a sweet surprise for the page admins as they can now interact with their users while on-the-move. But it seems that while you will be able to manage your pages, the other features for search or other Facebook options are not available as yet. However you are able to manage multiple pages for which you are the admin while posting updates and photos from the account. Facebook has been in the mobile experience for the brand for quite some time and this is only going to help the cause.

The Manager app for pages works nearly like the native app that Facebook has for the individual profiles. It just has additional features for page management while admins can go along with other general features. So, you have the push notifications whenever any interaction happens on the page which obviously allows the page owners to be more quick in their interactions with the followers. This clearly means that you will have faster access to what your users react to and your users will have at the back of their mind to keep checking in case there is an update from you.

Exercise the usage on the manager app cautiously. While its handy to have the management of your pages at your fingertips all the time, and for all of the page admins, you all may end up spamming the users who liked your pages not mention the over-posting mode you may get into. The page owners are also able to view the insights information for all of their shared pages; again on-the-go. This was they are able to see the views, likes and the overall reach any post may be having. Pretty useful and something that obviously shouldn't have been missed considering how important insights are for business.

So enjoy the trending graph at the bottom and while there may be no exact numbers to rely on, the ups and downs are sure to provide you with a fair deal of what's hot and what's not!!

ApnaCircle Launches Corporate Site

Can someone let us know if there is a race of rolling out features going on somewhere that we are not aware of? We are aware(and amazed, at the pace) Google is making changes to its platform in a little too hurry; but it seems ApnaCircle is picking up some clues from the search giant as well. The reason we are saying this is because the company has been rolling out some new features in the recent past that have been really good and user friendly like for example the Career Timeline Tool that we reported sometime back and they were in news for their Blackberry app as well. So while we thought they were busy with Company Pages feature that is coming pretty soon, they side by side are revamping the look of some sections on the site as well.

A couple of weeks before we published news on ApnaCircle Settings pages that got some nice look and user friendly interface. This time we are on their PR site that not only got new look and content but also a new home in ApnaCircle Corporate site.

ApnaCircle Corporate Site
The footer of the page provides you different links on the whole of the Viadeo Group, which ApnaCircle is a part of. You may use those links to navigate to any of the Group sites. It also has a running Twitter feed for you to stay updated on the official tweets from the company. The Facebook box seems to be missing for some reason. Although there are Facebook and Twitter pages links for you to be in contact with the daily news. Again, we thought it made sense to have put a YouTube link to the company' channel!!

ApnaCircle Group Timeline
ApnaCircle Corporate site now basically provides you with all the news and information on the whole of the group, with the center being ApnaCircle highlights. So, while you will see details on the whole Viadeo Group on the about page, the best thing that we noticed was the company' timeline information in the right sidebar. In case you still don't know all details about the acquisition etc, this is the place you need to look at. We did capture the part for you to have a look at it right here on your left :).

So ApnaCircle joined Viadeo group at the start of 2009. Jan 2009 to be precise. We will leave you t have a look at other events in company' timeline thereafter.

In other parts of the About section, you will find information on the Board of the Viadeo Group. This list includes people from Viadeo, China(Tianji home) and India where ApnaCircle operates from. So while you will have information about Dan Serfaty and Thierry Lunati who co-founded Viadeo (named Viaduc then), you will have details about Yogesh Bansal, Founder & CEO ApnaCircle and similarly about Derek Ling who founded Tianji in China. Oh and by the way, don't miss out on the Hotmail guy, Sabeer Bhatia!

We advise you don't leave this section before you have had a look at the last page that belongs to section. If you are a statistic person, this will interest you most. The Group Facts page gives you a breakdown of the group by country. So you are able to see total member count from each of the countries the group has its offices in. We will leave you to head over to the page, since its full of stats you may be interested in; but what struck us here was that while Men are from Google plus and Women are from Pinterest, it seems both gender love ApnaCircle!!
ApnaCircle Member Gender Ratio
The other parts of section talks about their media coverages and its contact persons, so head over here if you have any need to get in touch with their media persons. The last section has information about their partners and again, we will leave you to explore the pages on your won.

Have fun and yes, Happy Crunching!

Facebook Integrated in iOS6

The first time it was rumored, was a couple of years back and with the iOS4. The rumor was true till the length of almost there. And now the same rumors are back again. Facebook is being rumored to be finally integrated with the next version of iOS; iOS6 which as heard is codenamed Sundance!!

Facebook Integrated in iOS6
TechCrunch reported about the rumor in post yesterday. The reports that came a few days after Apple' CEO spoke suggestively at D10 conference; suggests that the system level integration will be pretty much similar to what Apple achieved with Twitter with iOS5. If the integration is finally realized, it will mean that the iPhone users will be share and post stuff to Facebook from core of the several iOS apps like Safari and even photos. Not only that but the current web page usage on the permissions from Facebook will make way for a better and smooth experience on handling permissions as to what can access Facebook account and other details associated to it.

TechCrunch also reports that although the recent comments from Apple' side and its app sore promotion of Facebook Camera suggests to the deal finally getting a seal; Apple is also known to change its mind of late. Whether or not the integration becomes a reality, there sure is more cooking than what we may be able to smell at the moment. Stay tuned for the WWDC this year and we sure will know. Till then enjoy the full post on TechCrunch !!
